I took some pictures of F's cats when they were with us last week.

Turtle had arranged herself on a cushion that happened to be on a chair I happened to want to sit on, so I moved both cushion and cat to the floor.

Perhaps Turtle's coloring could be a bit more felicitously arranged.

Tomato, on the other hand, is gorgeous. I couldn't really get a pic of her b/c she would not be deterred from trying to catch the cord dangling from the camera.

For a while there, Turtle was a very cuddly kitty but Tomato would bite you if you looked at her. F paraphrased Elizabeth Bennett to say that one cat had all the goodness, and the other all the appearance of it. But Tomato has mellowed upon maturity.

F worked part of the day Monday, all day Tuesday, and missed today. Her boss wants to put her on desk work only for a while. I wish there was some way to know how long it will take her to get her strength back. One of her coworkers told her that when he had mono his doctor told him to double up on the vitamins. I told her that certainly would not hurt. (She takes Flintstones with iron.)

Cute kitties! My cat's mom looked a lot like Turtle.

I have a book on nutritional healing that might be of help to F. I can e-mail you what it says for mono if you want--just let me know.

We used to have a cat with slightly longer hair the color of Turtle. Wonderful cat, who finally died of feline leukemia at 12. Her name was Mimi, after the same in la Boheme.

Around here in Boston, people called her a "money cat," an expression we, as Californians, had never heard before. Is that expression used elsewhere, or is it one of those many New England quirks that still sometimes surprise us after 30 years?

BTW, thanks, Laura, for stopping my me nearly-moribund blog. I'm trying to get it together to post more, and your visit helps.

I don't believe I have ever heard of "money cat".

Most people around here react to Turtle's appearance with "bless her heart". She is blissfully oblivious.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tortoiseshell_cat tells that these cats bring good luck. Good read.

I just googled that. I probably google more than anybody.

See? The people they love the cats. You try to be witty and insightful and it all comes down to cat photos.

Oh, I'd say you can be witty and insightful AND put up cat pictures.

Just don't get the wit and insight too near the cat pictures.
