What a world, what a world.

So I haven't posted about my job lately because no one would believe the things I would have to say. I've been looking and looking for another job for months, had a couple of interviews, no dice. There are so many good people out there right now, as I learned last year when I put an ad on Craigslist for a tech and was depressed by the response.

I had a call from a recruiter about an opening with a company I used to work for. The opening is in the Midwest. I entertained the prospect, he talked to them, and they apparently are excited about the possibility of my going to work there. They're still in discussion and have not made me an offer - I am not counting my chickens yet - and of course I don't know what kind of offer it will be. But as much as R and I hate the idea of leaving Florida, hate the idea of snow and ice, and HATE the idea of leaving F here, I think if it's any kind of decent offer I'll have to take it.

There's worse things. Right?

That's a very hard kind of decision to make, and whatever you decide, I wish you the best.

There are times when I regret very much leaving Colorado (Denver) for Chicago. The weather in Colorado is probably not like that in Florida, but it has its own beauty that Chicago's weather doesn't really match up with. And of course, most of my siblings are still in Colorado.

But much good has come out of it, and I met the love of my life here.

Again, good luck in whatever you decide.

I hate the snow here, but the only way I would ever live in Florida again is if I could return to Miami, but with a lot more money than I had the first time so I could live on the beach. I do like having seasons - I just wish the curve weren't shifted so far to the cold part. Memphis has perfect weather.

Good luck!

Thanks, TOR. There are almost always pluses and minuses to every decision. I see the minuses right now b/c we don't want to leave Florida, but if we do, it will be all right.

CF, I think the weather here is perfect. I actually like hot winters.

But once you put your hand to the plow, you don't turn back. Of course, they haven't made me an offer yet so I may be fretting about the wrong thing entirely.

Not knowing what it's like to pull up stakes for a job, I only can imagine it must be kinda hard. It's true, there are worse things, and if you can choose what job you get to have, things aren't so bad.

I'm sorry your work life and personal life aren't equally satisfying. As much as I'm a homebody, I know adventure can be nice, too. I hope it works out well for you.

I hate those kinds of decisions. But I still envy you the possibility...

I guess I should look at it as an adventure. Looking at it that way, maybe it's not so bad. Wouldn't mind working with those folks again.

As it turns out today, there may be something local here after all. I'll know very shortly. It would be cool to have a real choice to make between a couple of good opportunities. Well, we'll see.
